Product Vision Board
Roman Pichler's template for product vision and strategy.
PURPOSE
Without a clear product vision, a team easily gets lost in feature requests and loses strategic focus. Roman Pichler's Product Vision Board connects the overarching vision with specific target audiences, needs, and business goals. It serves as a north star for all product decisions and keeps the team on track.
HOW TO USE
You start with the overarching vision and then work through the fields for target audience, needs, product, and business goals. The board is ideally created in a team workshop and reviewed regularly. It should be displayed in a visible location and referenced when making product decisions.
WHAT IT IS
The Product Vision Board is a one-page canvas by Roman Pichler with five fields: Vision, Target Audience, Needs, Product, and Business Goals. It connects the strategic level (vision) with the operational level (concrete product) on a single page. The canvas is licensed under CC BY-SA and freely available.
EXAMPLE
Example: You're launching a new SaaS product for trade businesses and need a clear product vision before building the backlog. With the Product Vision Board, you define the target audience (small trade businesses with 5-20 employees), the core problem (manual invoicing), the solution, and the business goals. Now the entire team has a north star.
