Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Transformationstools at a glance

What are transformation tools?

Transformation tools are methods, frameworks and canvases that support organizations in change processes. They help with strategy development, teamwork, leadership development and cultural change. Typical examples include the Business Model Canvas, OKRs, retrospective formats or Design Thinking methods.

How do I find the right tool for my problem?

Use the filters by category (e.g. Strategy, Teams, Change) or type (Canvas, Framework, Method). Or try our Smart Search: simply describe your problem or goal – e.g. "We have conflicts in the team" – and we'll suggest matching tools.

What is the difference between a Canvas, Framework and Method?

Canvas: A visual template to fill in (e.g. Business Model Canvas). Framework: A structured thinking model with principles (e.g. OKR, Scrum). Method: A concrete procedure with steps (e.g. Design Thinking, 5 Whys). Assessment: An evaluation or diagnostic tool (e.g. Team Health Check).

Are the tools free to use?

Yes, all listed tools are free to use. Most are available under Creative Commons licenses (CC BY, CC BY-SA) or have been released for free use by their creators. The respective license is indicated for each tool – for commercial use, we recommend checking the original license.

Where do the tools come from and how up-to-date is the collection?

The tools come from renowned sources such as Strategyzer, IDEO, Stanford d.school, Management 3.0, Spotify, Sociocracy 3.0 and many others. We always link to the original source. The collection is continuously expanded and updated – you can help us find outdated links through the link rating feature.

Why are some concepts not listed as tools?

We intentionally only list concrete, actionable tools here – not abstract concepts or theories. Terms like "Agility", "Psychological Safety" or "VUCA" can be found in our Glossary, which serves as a reference and contextual guide.

Who is this collection intended for?

For anyone who facilitates change processes: management consultants, trainers, coaches, leaders, Scrum Masters, Agile Coaches, HR professionals, organizational developers and facilitators – but also for teams and founders who work on their own organization.

Can I suggest tools or report links?

Yes! You can suggest new tools at any time. For each tool, you can also rate the link (Top/Medium/Poor) and suggest a better link via the link icon. This helps us keep the collection up to date.

Can I use the tools in training and consulting projects?

Generally yes – most tools are explicitly released for free use. For CC-licensed tools, you must credit the creator. For "Free to use" tools, there are usually no restrictions. For "Proprietary" tools, please check the original license. When in doubt, we link to the source where you can find the exact terms.

Who is behind this collection?

The Tool Library is curated by Alexander Sattler – transformation consultant and co-founder of Pink Elephants. The collection is based on years of practical experience from trainings, workshops and consulting projects.
