Business Model Kit

PURPOSE
Communicating and building shared understanding of business models often fails due to the complexity and abstractness of the relationships involved. The Business Model Kit makes business models tangible through physical building blocks and enables intuitive, playful work. It fosters shared understanding within the team and makes dependencies between business model elements visible.
HOW TO USE
You lay out the building blocks on a large workspace and assemble the business model step by step. Different block types represent customers, value propositions, channels, revenue streams, and other elements. Connections between blocks are physically represented, and variants can be quickly explored by rearranging the blocks.
WHAT IT IS
The Business Model Kit by Board of Innovation is a visual building block system with physical components for designing business models. It includes different block types for customers, products, channels, money flows, and other business model elements. The kit is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 and can be used as a complement or alternative to the Business Model Canvas.
EXAMPLE
Example: You are facilitating a strategy workshop and need to visualize the current business model of a logistics company with 15 executives. Using the Business Model Kit, you use physical building blocks that you arrange on a large board — customer segments, channels, revenue streams. The hands-on work ensures everyone actively participates instead of just listening to a presentation.
