PURPOSE

The Design Thinking Toolkit is used to guide teams step by step through the Design Thinking process and provide practical tools for each phase. It solves the problem that teams know the theory of Design Thinking but struggle to put it into practice. This facilitates the entry into Design Thinking and improves the quality of results through proven methods.

HOW TO USE

Follow the five steps of the workbook: Empathize (understand), Define (define), Ideate (generate ideas), Prototype (build prototypes), and Test (test). The toolkit provides concrete methods, templates, and exercises for each step. Work through the steps sequentially, with explicit encouragement to revisit previous steps. Use the toolkit for both facilitated workshops and self-directed teams.

WHAT IT IS

The Design Thinking Toolkit is a practice-oriented workbook that divides the Design Thinking process into five clearly structured steps. It contains detailed method descriptions, work templates, and practical tips for each step. The toolkit is based on the Human-Centered Design approach from IDEO and is designed so that both beginners and experienced teams can use it as a guide and method collection.

EXAMPLE

Example: You conduct a two-day Design Thinking workshop for a bank team improving the loan application process and use the Design Thinking Toolkit as a step-by-step workbook. The five chapters (Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test) each contain worksheets and exercises the team can work through independently โ€“ from customer interviews to a paper prototype of the new application flow.
