Persona Canvas
Structured creation of user personas for design and marketing.
PURPOSE
Without a clear picture of the target audience, products and marketing efforts are developed without meeting actual needs. The Persona Canvas helps create archetypal user profiles that serve as a shared reference for the entire team. It translates abstract audience data into tangible, human profiles.
HOW TO USE
You first collect qualitative and quantitative data about the target audience through interviews, surveys, or analytics. Then you condense these insights on the canvas into a fictional but data-driven user profile. The completed Persona Canvas is shared with the team and used as a basis for design and product decisions.
WHAT IT IS
The Persona Canvas is a structured worksheet for creating user personas. It includes fields for demographic data, goals, frustrations, behaviors, preferred channels, and a personal quote. The canvas comes from the Design Thinking domain and is provided by Design a Better Business.
EXAMPLE
Example: Your marketing team for an online grocery delivery service endlessly debates who the actual target audience is. With the Persona Canvas, you create three specific personas โ the working mother, the health-conscious single, and the tech-savvy retiree. Each persona gets a name, photo, goals, and frustrations, so everyone on the team has the same picture in mind.
