PURPOSE

Many people lack a clear overview of their own strengths, weaknesses, and development opportunities. The Personal SWOT Analysis applies the proven strategic analysis tool to the personal level and creates clarity about one's own positioning. It is especially helpful for career decisions, job applications, or starting a new role.

HOW TO USE

You honestly analyze your own Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats and enter them in the four quadrants. Strengths and weaknesses relate to internal, personal factors, while opportunities and threats cover external factors such as market trends or industry developments. The results are used to derive a concrete development plan.

WHAT IT IS

The Personal SWOT is an adaptation of the classic SWOT analysis for individual career and personal development. It consists of a 2x2 matrix with the four fields Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. Unlike organizational SWOT, it focuses on personal competencies, characteristics, and the individual professional environment.

EXAMPLE

Example: You're considering going freelance as a consultant but are unsure. With the Personal SWOT, you analyze: Strengths (10 years of industry experience, strong network), Weaknesses (no sales experience), Opportunities (growing market for agile consulting), and Threats (large consulting firms as competition). This helps you make an informed decision.
