Community Map
Visualizes community and ecosystem actors and their relationships for systematic engagement.
PURPOSE
The Community Map serves to make the ecosystem of an organization or initiative visible and to understand the relationships between different actors. It helps identify gaps in the network and purposefully build new connections. The tool is particularly useful when complex actor networks need to be systematically engaged.
HOW TO USE
In the first step, all relevant community and ecosystem actors are identified and positioned on the map. Then the relationships between the actors are drawn in and differentiated by type and intensity. Missing or weak connections are marked and measures for strengthening the network are derived. The map is regularly updated to reflect changes in the ecosystem.
WHAT IT IS
The Community Map is a visual mapping tool that displays actors within an ecosystem and their relationships to each other. It shows various actor groups such as partners, users, supporters, and competitors in a spatial arrangement. The connections between actors are represented by lines that visualize the type and strength of the relationship.
EXAMPLE
Example: You are building a regional innovation ecosystem for sustainable mobility and need to connect startups, municipalities, research institutions, and civic initiatives. With the Community Map, you visualize all actors and their existing relationships to identify gaps and bridge-building actors.
