S3 Team Canvas
Clarifies team status and development direction.
PURPOSE
The S3 Team Canvas is used to clarify the current status of a team and jointly define development steps. It helps teams become aware of their purpose, working methods, and challenges and to derive concrete improvement measures from these. This structures and facilitates regular reflection on teamwork.
HOW TO USE
Fill out the canvas together as a team, ideally in a workshop of 60 to 90 minutes. Clarify the team purpose, current challenges, team strengths, and areas that need development. Define concrete next steps and agreements. Repeat the exercise regularly, for example quarterly, to make progress visible and identify new development topics.
WHAT IT IS
The S3 Team Canvas is a tool from Sociocracy 3.0 that maps the current state and development direction of a team on a single page. It includes fields for team purpose, key challenges, current strengths, development areas, agreements, and next steps. The canvas is part of the S3 framework and is suitable for both new and existing teams.
EXAMPLE
Example: As an Agile Coach, you support a Scrum team going through a transitional phase and use the S3 Team Canvas to reflect on the current team status – purpose, current challenges, relationship quality, and learning needs. The team realizes that while it is technically strong, the collaboration with the Product Owner is unclearly defined.
